In elementary school I wanted more than anything to be a sensitive, cello-playing Marlboro man, scruff and all, but I was the tallest kid in class and was nicely asked to play bass instead. The shoe-polished monster was twice as tall as me, though you all should know I could play a mean Happy Blues. Needless to say, when a seat opened in the viola section, I jumped, unexpectedly.

Performing around motherland Salt Lake City got me excited about playing with other people, however, my composition teacher and I had secret plans for music-writing school, loner cowboy wishes again. Years later I ended up with degrees in viola performance, no regrets. Some of that time in between was spent in the great woods of northern Michigan at the Interlochen Arts Academy, which led me to all the amazing people in Rochester and at the Eastman School - teachers, friends, and especially this bunch here. Now I play around as much as I can, move now and then, and do my best to eat well.
